Dr Oluwaseun Basit Ogunbona (a.k.a Authority) was born in Ebute-Metta, Lagos State on 22nd February, 1986. After a humble primary and secondary education with brilliant performance, he secured an admission to study Medicine and Surgery in the University of Lagos in 2006. As a result of his unprecedented, historic, trail-blazing and distinct academic and leadership record in the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos, he amassed so many laurels and bagged the Bachelor of Science (BSc) honours degree (with First Class) and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB;BS) degree in August 2009 and February 2013 respectively.

He rose by leaps and bounds as a student leader and eventually became an Elected President of the College of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Science Students Association (COMPSSA), the umbrella body for all students’ association in the Idi-Araba Campus of the University of Lagos and by extension, he became the Vice-Chairman/Deputy Spoke-person of the Council of Faculty Presidents of the University of Lagos. He was at different times Assistant Class Representative, Class Representative, University of Lagos Student Union Congressman, College of Medicine Delegate at the University of Lagos Student Union Draft Constitution Review Committee amongst others.

He is a distinguished, dynamic, erudite and versatile scholar, and has attended so many local and international conferences and workshops. This included an international workshop on the Role of Youth in the Achievement of the Millennium Development Goals organized by the Girl Child Art Foundation (GCAF) Campus Initiative held in Calabar in 2007.

This medical scholar and leader is a member of various professional and non-governmental organizations including the American Physiological Society, HIV/AIDS Awareness and Research Team, Action Group on Adolescent Health (AGAH), Hamstrings Socio-Philanthropic Club and several others, too numerous to mention.

Dr Ogunbona is a recipient of several awards; this included and is not limited to Provost Prize (Medicine), College Prize (Medicine/Dentistry), College Prize, Vice-Chancellor's Prize, Scholars (First Class Academic Status) Award given to him by the College of Medicine and the University of Lagos at different times, as well as various others such as University of Lagos Student-Leader Award, Prestigious Award For Excellence, Award for Most Brilliant, Award for Most Outstanding Student conferred on him by different student associations.

Whereas, this scholar and gentleman’s academic and leadership achievements cannot be fully recited, he remains a very humble and morally sound individual who believes in the effectiveness, efficacy and efficiency of the ability, agility, capacity and capability of the youth to reposition and build our nation where peace and justice shall reign. Above all, he remained focused and holds the ambition of being a first class Clinical Haematologist of international repute as well as a seasoned national administrator.
